The Sociological Association organized a discussion which was related to “Poetry ,Song and Love”. This program was conducted along with the Valentine’s Day and therefore it was held on 14th February in 2021. Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena , the Vice Chancellor of University of Ruhuna, Dr Suranjith Gunasekara, Head of the Department of Sociology were invited as the chief guests of this program. The resource persons of this program were Dr Mohomed Mahees, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Sociology, University of Colombo and veteran poet Mrs.Amali Eheliyagoda. They discussed about how songs and poems are important in expressing love and affection and how people express their love and other emotions through the arts such as poems and songs.
