The Department of Sociology and the Sociological Association have recognized that the undergraduates face numerous difficulties due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic situation because their economic, social, cultural, psychological environments have changed up to a great extent. Especially they face several issues related to their private life, mental wellbeing, and online education. As a support for undergraduates the Department of Sociology organized an online lecture series under the theme “Sociological Imagination for Practical life”. Dr. Gayathri Wijesundera conducted the 1st lecture of this lecture series on 30th December 2020 via online platform under the topic “Overcoming the Challenges of the New Year through the Sociological Imagination”. In this lecture, Dr. Gayathri Wijesundera specified on the importance of sociological imagination and the way of applying it to our practical lives.
