As a result of the collaboration between the Embassy of Iran and the Sociological Association of the Department of Sociology, University of Ruhuna, the Iran-Sri Lanka Friendship Film Festival was successfully held on 14th and 15th November 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on the university premises . The entire university community that participated in this event was able to gain a better understanding of the Iranian culture and cinema along with the history of Iran. Veteran Film Director Danushka Goonetileke and Senior Lecturer in Sociology, Dr. Suranjith Gunasekara, participated as resource persons.
