Biography:
Lokeshwari Karunarathna is a Senior Lecturer (Grd. II) attached to the Department of Sinhala in Ruhuna University. She earned her Bachelors from the University of Peradeniya with a 1st class in Sinhala, MA in Applied Linguistics from Southern Illinois University Carbondale USA, with a Fulbright Masters’ Scholarship and the M. Phil from University of Peradeniya in Sinhala with the Gate Mudliyar A. G. Thilakaratne Research Fellowship. Her main research interests focus on Language Acquisition and Teaching related to Sinhala, Sociolinguistics and Psycholinguistics. Apart from the field of languages, she is interested on Kandyan and folkdance, folk music and singing.
