Biography:

Dr B.M.Sumanaratne is a senior lecturer in economics, and head of the Department of Economics in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in the University of Ruhuna. Also he is a coordinator for MA Degree programme in Global Development and Planning between Agder University, Norway and University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka. He earned his B.A Economics four year special degree from Peradaniya University, Sri Lanka and Master Degree (MPhil.) from University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka and PhD from University of Sheffield in United Kingdom in the areas of Poverty and Public Policy Reform. He has served for academia over 25 years and engaged in many research. He has published several journal articles, and abstracts. He is also a reviewer board member of many international conference, PhD examiner for Universities. He has successfully supervised many postgraduate students. His current teaching and research interests include Public Finance, Managerial Economics, Micro, Macro, and Development Economics.
