Under the theme of “Spirit of sprouting researchers of tomorrow” the Ruhuna Arts Students’ Annual Sessions (RASAS) is scheduled to be held on September 20, 2018 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Ruhuna.


Call for papers for the Ruhuna University International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences (RUICHSS) 2018 is now open. The conference is scheduled to be held on March 29-30, 2018 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Ruhuna under the theme, “Ethics, Morality and Spirituality in Globalized Society”.

ERF News
Environmental Researchers’ Forum (ERF) conducted a tree plantation campaign at the Wellamadama main university premises on January 26, 2018 with the participation of many students, staff members and a few forest officers. More than 100 plants have been planted and there was a huge interest among students towards this. The ERF website was launched by Senior Professor P. Hewage, the Head of the Department of Geography. Dr Pradeep Nalaka Ranasinghe was the key speaker at the event.

A Short Film about Killing


A Short Film about Killing by Krzysztof Kieslowski, provides a timely important and polemic social debate on capital punishment in an aesthetically stimulated manner. Organized by the Public Policy Association, this film will be screened on August 15, 2018 from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. in the premises of the Department of Public Policy. An open invitation is extended to all who are interested and eager to open your soul.


The launching of the second volume of the Awalokana Shasthreeya Sangrahaya was held on September 7, 2017 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Auditorium, University of Ruhuna. The chief guest was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ruhuna. The History and Archaeology Society of the Department of History and Archaeology publishes this annual research journal.
