Guidelines to Prepare Manuscripts

The Authors have to forward their papers based on original research as MS Word (Rich Text Format) to the Editor in Chief (upul@econ.ruh.ac.lk) or associate editors. The authors are advised to follow the style of the Journal. Manuscripts which do not fully confirm to Journal style, will be returned to the Authors. Though the scholars use varied procedures, University of Ruhuna Social Sciences and Humanities Review requires authors to adopt the following guidelines to maintain consistency in the style and format of the journal. The manuscript file size must be limited to a maximum of 1 MB , double spaced, Times New Roman, 12 font size, with page numbers at the lower right corner. The manuscript need to comply with the following style and format

  1. Author(s) institutional address including email ID of corresponding author
  2. Abstract (limited to 250-300 words)
  3. Key words or phrases (not more than 6)
  4. Introduction (scope, purpose, objectives of the study)
  5. Methodology of the study
  6. Main body (with sub divisions at the centre and sub headings flushed left. Depending upon the theme, the main text may be organized in chronological spatial and topical sequence)
  7. Conclusions (besides the brief summary of the research work, conclusions or inferences drawn from the study undertaken)
  8. Acknowledgements (in 4 or 5 lines)
  9. End Notes and Appendices: For detailed understanding of the point under discussion, End Notes (I,II and so on as superscripts in the main text and Appendices as Appendix-I, II and so on being mentioned in the text) shall be furnished, if necessary.
  10. References Reference citations within the text should consist of the author's last name and date of publication, without punctuation, enclosed within parentheses, and should be inserted before punctuation and/or at a logical break in the sentence. If several citations are needed, separate them with semicolons, and list them alphabetically. Give the page number only if necessary for a direct quote. If the author's name has just been listed in the text, the date in parentheses is sufficient. If two or more works by an author have the same year, distinguish them by placing a, b and so forth after the year. Use et al. for works by more than two authors. For example: Adams’ (1999) latest proposal has been questioned by some researchers (Linda 1981; Brown 1980), but is accepted by others (Silva 1989; Warusha 1990; SWang 1997). Researchers (Cockburn et al. 1995; Hodges, McCollum, and Hall 1981; Lee and King 1983) have found that…
When quoting another author’s work, the author's name, the date of publication, and the page(s) on which the quotation appears in the original text should follow the direct quote.Example 1: Balci (2005) states that "the value of data is realized by most organizations" (p. 75). Example 2: "Information systems are integral part of organizations. Without an information system, there would be no survival” (Laudon and Laudon, 2004, 42-43).
